Compatibility notes

This is an Excel workbook (.xlsx). Google Sheets converts it when you import it, so check these after each import:

  • The formulas in the Amount, Subtotal, Tax and Total cells
  • The "Tax applies to" drop-down (before or after discount)
  • Number formats, column widths and fonts
  • The print settings and paper size

Currency and date formatting

Adjust the currency symbol, decimal places and date to match your receipts.

  1. Currency: select the amount cells, then choose Format → Number → Currency, or Custom currency for another symbol. The symbol changes how amounts look; it does not convert them.
  2. Decimal places: use the Decrease and Increase decimal places buttons in the toolbar.
  3. Date: the Date cell is text, so it shows exactly what you type, for example Oct 25, 2026 or 25/10/2026.
  4. Locale: File → Settings → Locale sets the default number and date style of the spreadsheet.
Date
Oct 25, 2026
Subtotal
19.47
Discount
−5.00
Tax (8.25%)
1.61
Tip
3.00
Total
19.08

When the details are right, print the receipt or save it as a PDF from Google Sheets.

  1. Select the receipt cells on the Receipt or Example sheet.
  2. Choose File → Print and pick Selected cells, then check the preview.
  3. Print, or choose File → Download → PDF for a PDF file.

Review formulas and formatting after import. The print area set in the file is for Excel; Google Sheets may not keep it, so choose Selected cells when you print.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about using the Google Sheets template.

Do I need a Google account?

Yes. Google Sheets needs a Google account. You import the XLSX file into your own Google Drive; nothing is sent to this site.

Is this a native Google Sheets copy link?

No. The template is an Excel (.xlsx) file that you import into Google Sheets. There is no "Make a copy" link to a Sheets file.

Do the formulas work after import?

The file uses ordinary spreadsheet formulas for line amounts, subtotal, discount, tax, tip, total and change or balance due, and Google Sheets recalculates them when you change an input. Check the formulas and totals after every import.
